About Dry Dock Services Ltd.

Dry Dock Services Ltd is an independent family-run marine engineering company established in 2025 by husband-and-wife team Iain Johnson and Alysia Johnson.

Built on extensive industry experience and a shared commitment to professionalism, reliability, and customer service, DDS was created to provide practical, responsive, and high-quality marine engineering support to vessels, shipyards, and offshore operators worldwide.

As a family business, Dry Dock Services Ltd. takes pride in offering a personal and dependable approach, working closely with clients to deliver efficient solutions tailored to operational requirements. Combining strong technical expertise with organised operational support, the company focuses on minimising downtime, maintaining high safety standards, and building long-term working relationships based on trust and performance.

Although newly established, DDS is founded on decades of hands-on marine propulsion, dry dock, and field service experience across a wide range of vessel types and propulsion systems.

Director & Field Service Superintendent

Iain Johnson brings over 20 years of hands-on marine engineering and propulsion field service experience across commercial shipping, offshore, and dry dock operations worldwide.

Having previously held senior engineering roles with Wärtsilä and MAN Energy Solutions, as well as serving at sea as a 4th Engineer with Maersk, Iain combines practical operational knowledge with extensive technical expertise in propulsion and engine systems.

His experience covers the inspection, repair, overhaul, commissioning, and troubleshooting of a wide range of propulsion equipment, including stern tube seals and bearing systems on shaft sizes ranging from 315mm to 1250mm. He also has extensive experience in shaft alignment, propulsion diagnostics, and complex mechanical fault finding both afloat and during dry dock periods.

Throughout his career, Iain has worked extensively on two-stroke main engines up to 80MW and four-stroke engines up to 25MW, supporting vessel operators, shipyards, and technical departments with everything from planned maintenance to emergency breakdown response.
